Gumasa have been laden with beaches you wouldn’t want to miss in your visit to SOCCSKSARGEN. Having repeatedly visited these beaches because of just about an hour and a half proximity to General Santos City, Gumasa beaches have had never lost their beauty which was why, Holy Week 2017 was all about going to these beautiful local beaches.
Together with my college friends and afterwards with my workmates, I spent my four days holy week beach bumming through some of what Gumasa had to offer and side-tripping to some other places along the way.
Morales Beach Resort
With the other resorts already fully booked for the holidays, Morales Beach Resort was one of the resorts which allowed entry without any reservations. After paying the entrance fee of P70, we were met with the beach which was un-charmingly on low tide at lunchtime.
We were rooting for the sunset on the beach but the intermittent rain and the heavy clouds made it not possible. Having been on this particular beach before, I should say that it is very much better when it’s on high tide.
We could stay on the beach overnight and setup our tents for P300/tent (we had two tents) and upped our entrance fee by P30 each. We decided not to. After renting just a table for P200, which we have haggled from P300, we thought the prices were a bit inflated.
Isla Jardin del Mar Beach Resort
Isla Jardin del Mar Beach Resort was the place for the stunning sunrise and some fun water activities. With the entrance fee of P100 (no need for reservations) and free tent area, we were relieved to have saved a little on our travel. The resort was well maintained and the staffs were friendly and accommodating. A little setback though was that it rained.
We were rooting for the sunrise in this resort, also one of the reasons of our considerations to not staying overnight in the previous resort, and we were not disappointed. The sunrise was indeed beautiful. They have this bridge port for the small bankas which also served as the sunrise view deck. It was part of the resort where I personally loved the most.
The resort also offered water activities. The 5 of us chose the exhilarating flying fish ride and our P1,800-payment was all worth it. Afterwards, we stayed for a few more hours enjoying the waters of the resort before packing our things and headed for lunch in General Santos City. Same with the previous resort, you wouldn’t want to see the beach in this resort in low ride.
Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant
Still not ready to call it a day, we have brainstormed during lunch where to go next. Poof – Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant. We went for coffee and fruit shakes on the place. We spent a couple of hours chatting and laughing about what we had been doing since yesterday and possibly where to go next when our schedules aligned. Then we drove home, after a few moments the rain poured, again.
