The first Budayaw Festival is being held here in General Santos City. However, I am a ‘corporate slave’ so; in as much I want to attend all of the activities, my need to pay my bills is currently the top priority. Being the first ever BIMP-EAGA (Brunei Darussalam – Indonesia – Malaysia – Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area), Budayaw aims to primarily showcase the diversity in cultures and artistry to bring forth awareness and consequently appreciation. It is indeed a very interesting festival.

So, there’s a Budayaw Visual Arts Exhibition in Veranza Mall which is really attention-grabbing. I am not an artsy person and my art appreciation skills are rather rudimentary, so looking at the exhibit I was like, ‘Oh, this is nice!’, ‘This is amazing!’, ‘This is art!’, ‘Okay, can somebody explain this?’, ‘I don’t get this.’, and ‘Am I missing something here?’. I was saying these things out loud prompting some of the people around to look at me funny. But then I totally enjoyed the exhibit, hence this article.

FYI there are far more interesting activities of Budayaw Festival which is from September 20-24, 2017. Refer to their facebook page for schedule of activities that might tap your curiosity. As for me, I wish I could AFK my way out to Budayaw Festival but, I could only wish.
